Inmate in Jail for Attempted Murder Found with Potential Weapon

Sheriff Craig Webre announced Inmate Jordan Williams (age 23) was charged after officers discovered him to have a self-made item which could be used as a weapon. While inspecting Williams’ cell at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, correctional officers at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center discovered a rod-like piece of metal with a sharp end and a sock wrapped around it. Officers determined the metal item was taken from a portion of fencing on the grounds. Williams was charged with Taking Contraband to a Penal Institution, and his bond increased by $50,000. Williams was initially arrested on December 29 on charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder, two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Obstruction of Justice, Flight from an Officer, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle and driving without a license. His new total bond is set at $455,100.
