Arrests of Note: April 5-6, 2016

DERREL JACKSON:
At around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, deputies in the Thibodaux area conducted a traffic stop at Solar Trailer Park, and they identified the driver as Derrel Jackson (age 33) of Thibodaux who had an active warrant for his arrest via Thibodaux City Court for Home Invasion. Deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and Jackson was found to have over 20 grams of marijuana inside his vehicle. A passenger and a juvenile traveling in the vehicle with Jackson were not charged and subsequently released. Jackson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on the active warrant for Home Invasion. He was additionally charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Illegal Use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of Persons Under 17 Years Old, and improper lane usage. His bond was set at $90,100.

WILMA LINDSEY:
At around 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, deputies responded to a disturbance in which a female suspect had reportedly struck another woman with a wooden stick. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, as well as the suspect who was identified as Wilma Lindsey (age 51) of Houma. Deputies learned the incident began as a verbal altercation which escalated when Lindsey grabbed the wooden stick and attempted to strike the victim in the head. The victim reportedly raised her arm in defense and was struck in the arm and hand. When questioned about the incident, Lindsey admitted to committing the battery and informed deputies she was currently on parole. She was placed under arrest and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. She was transported to the Detention Center where she was booked accordingly. Her bond has not yet been set.
