Houma Man Arrested for Kidnapping a Bayou Blue Woman

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Brian Charles (age 56) of Houma for allegedly kidnapping a Bayou Blue woman on April 27.

On Wednesday, April 27, deputies responded to a Bayou Blue residence in reference to a call from a female in her 20s who said she has just been kidnapped and escaped. Through investigation, deputies learned the woman was on the front porch of her residence when she noticed a black car pull up to the front of the house. The woman recognized the car as belonging Brian Charles and approached the passenger side. When the woman opened the door, Charles allegedly grabbed her and forcibly pulled her into the car. According to the woman, Charles then sped away from the scene and took the woman’s phone from her to prevent her from calling for help. The woman eventually grabbed her phone back and jumped out of the vehicle into the roadway where Charles left her and fled the scene. Following the investigation, deputies obtained a warrant for Charles’ arrest. Charles also had an outstanding warrant due to horses that he owned not being properly vaccinated (as required by state law), which stemmed from an investigation in early April.

Officers with the Houma Police Department made contact with Charles on Wednesday, May 4 and placed him under arrest for the outstanding warrants. He was transferred to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on Thursday and booked with Simple Kidnapping and failure to vaccinate horses. His bond is set at $22,500.
