Deputies Find Drugs and Firearm During Traffic Stop in Raceland

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Aukee Moore (age 19) of Thibodaux on Monday, June 20. Just before 4:30 p.m. on Monday, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on St. Louis Street in Raceland. Deputies made contact with the driver, who was identified as Aukee Moore, and the passenger who was a juvenile. Deputies immediately detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During questioning, Moore admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the stop but told deputies there were no drugs currently inside the vehicle. A K-9 deputy arrived on scene and the K-9 alerted to the possible presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. Deputies discovered two plastic bags containing suspected marijuana inside the vehicle, along with drug paraphernalia and a loaded handgun with an obliterated serial number. Moore was placed under arrest and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. He was booked with Possession of Marijuana (2nd Offense), Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of an Unidentifiable Firearm, Illegal Use of a Controlled Drug in the Presence of Persons under 17 Years Old, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and improper lane usage. His bond is set at $4,850.
