Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder After Stabbing a Man Multiple Times

Sheriff Craig Webre announced Alex Andras (age 31) of Choctaw has been arrested for attempted murder after stabbing another man multiple times. The victim is currently hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, deputies responded to a call of a man whose throat had been slit by another man with a knife. Deputies and EMTs responded to the scene. Upon arrival, deputies learned the male victim had also been stabbed multiple times in the neck and upper torso in addition to having his throat slit. He was initially transported to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for treatment, but due to the extent of injuries, he was later airlifted to University Hospital in New Orleans where he is currently in critical but stable condition.

Through investigation, deputies learned Alex Andras arrived at the victim’s home and a verbal altercation ensued over a woman. The altercation eventually became physical, and at one point, Andras allegedly began stabbing the victim with a pocketknife. Following the incident, Andras fled to his Choctaw Road residence where he was found and detained for questioning. Following questioning, detectives obtained a warrant for Andras’ arrest on the charge of Attempted Second Degree Murder. He was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked accordingly. His bond is set at $100,000.
