Juvenile Charged with Damaging Cars During Thibodaux Church Service

Sheriff Craig Webre announced a teenage suspect has been charged with damaging 12 vehicles parked outside a Thibodaux church on Sunday, September 4. The incident was reported at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Deputies responded to St. Peter Baptist Church in Thibodaux and discovered several vehicles had been damaged with scratches on the exterior body of each. The vehicles had been damaged during a church service that morning. In all, 12 victims reported their vehicles damaged during the incident.

Detectives were unable to view surveillance video until Tuesday morning, and the video showed a teenage subject damaging the vehicles. Detectives identified and made contact with the individual on Tuesday, and the juvenile confessed to damaging the vehicles. The teen indicated a rock was used to scratch the vehicles and gave no motive other than “boredom.” The juvenile was charged with 12 counts of Criminal Damage to Property and released to the custody of the mother.
