Public’s Help Sought to Identify Shoplifter at Mathews Department Store

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a man wanted for stealing several hundred dollars of merchandise from a Mathews department store.

On March 25, 2018, deputies responded to a reported shoplifting incident at the Walmart Supercenter located at 4858 Highway 1 in Mathews. According to employees, the incident had occurred the day prior when a man stole a shopping cart full of items. The man arrived to the parking lot at around 5:45 p.m. and left the business with the several hundred dollars in merchandise over an hour later.

The suspect is described as white male with medium to dark complexion with short hair and a beard. He has tattoos covering both forearms, a small tattoo over his right eye, and a tattoo on the right side of his neck. He was driving a white sedan with a sunroof and chrome-colored rims. The vehicle reportedly did not have a license plate displayed.
