Two Cut Off Men Arrested for Meth Distribution

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Eric Castagnetta (age 30) and Todd Guilbeau (age 38), both of Cut Off. Agents with the Lafourche Parish Drug Task Force had acquired arrests warrants for both men for the charge of Distribution of Methamphetamine following an investigation.

On Wednesday, January 20, agents traveling along LA Highway 24 in Larose initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle and identified the driver as Eric Castagnetta. Knowing he had an active warrant for his arrest, Castagnetta was taken into custody. Agents discovered him to be in possession of approximately 21 grams of suspected Methamphetamine and 26 pills which included alprazolam, hydrocodone and oxycodone, as well as various drug paraphernalia. Agents also seized an AR-15 style rifle which Castagnetta had in his possession. He was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on warrants for two counts of Distribution of Methamphetamine and three counts of Contempt of Court. He was also charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, as well as Possession of Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Alprazolam, and Drug Paraphernalia. His bond is set at $130,000, but he is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole.

Then, at around 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, agents attempted to make contact with Guilbeau at his residence on West 74th Street in Cut Off. Upon arrival, they observed Guilbeau to be walking on the porch of his residence. As agents pulled up to the home, Guilbeau ran inside the residence and barricaded himself inside to prevent agents from entering. Guilbeau then exited through the rear of the residence, and began running into a wooded area attempting to evade agents. Several other deputies responded to the scene to assist in setting up a perimeter around the area, but they were unable to locate Guilbeau at that time. Then, at around 7:30 p.m., deputies responded to the residence and made contact with several individuals at the residence, including Guilbeau who was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on a warrant for Distribution of Methamphetamine as well as Resisting an Officer. His bond is set at $51,000.
