Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Course

This self-defense course is designed exclusively for women and takes place over the course of three days, usually in the evening, at a specified location. Participants must attend all three nights to complete the course which is instructed by certified R.A.D. instructions from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. Cost of the course is $10. Advance registration is required.

Concealed Handgun Course

Anyone applying for a Concealed Handgun Permit from the State of Louisiana MUST complete a Concealed Handgun Course. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office offers this single-day course each month at the Shooting Range Facility. The course features classroom instruction and live range fire. Cost of the course is $110. Advance registration is required.

Beginner Handgun Course

This class is designed for first-time firearms owners and persons looking to learn basic fundamentals about firearm ownership. The course is approximately 4 hours, and participants are also required to bring 50 rounds of ammunition as well as eye and ear protection. Cost of the course is $50. Advance registration is required.

Hunter’s Education Course

This FREE two-day course is for ages 10 and up and covers topics such as hunter responsibility and ethics, how firearms work and firearms safety, survival and first aid skills, firearm handling skills and hunting techniques, wildlife identification, game care, and information related to wildlife conservation and management. Classes are held periodically throughout the year.

Hunter’s Education Field Day

Designed as an alternative to taking the two-day Hunter Education classroom course, the “Field Day” is a FREE 5-hour session on a single day held periodically throughout the year. To attend a Field Day, you MUST complete the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Home Study Course and present the completion voucher at the Field Day.
