Thibodaux Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following Shooting on Sunday

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Treyale Brown (age 25) of Thibodaux following a shooting incident on Paula Drive in Thibodaux Sunday, October 9. Brown is charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Just before 7 p.m. on Sunday evening, deputies responded to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center in reference to a shooting victim having arrived at the emergency room. Deputies learned the male victim had a single gunshot wound to the left chest and was in critical condition. He was later airlifted to University Hospital in New Orleans where he is currently listed in stable but critical condition.

Through investigation, detectives learned the victim was riding with another man when they stopped at a residence on Paula Drive. The victim exited the vehicle and made contact with another man at the residence, who was later identified as Treyale Brown. The two men began arguing, and at one point, Brown retreated back into the residence. He appeared moments later with a rifle and allegedly fired a single round striking the victim in the chest. As Brown went back inside the residence, the man who was riding with the victim transported him to the hospital.

Detectives developed Brown as the suspect in the shooting. Deputies located Brown and took him into custody due to an outstanding warrant for a parole violation. Detectives questioned Brown about the shooting and he confessed to his involvement in the incident.

He was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he was booked with Attempted Second Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, as well as the existing warrant for a parole violation. His bond on the charges is set at $250,000, but he is being held without bond due to the parole violation.
