UPDATE: Additional Charges Filed and Third Suspect in Thibodaux Vehicle Burglaries Arrested

Sheriff Craig Webre announced additional charges have been filed in reference to a string of vehicle burglaries which occurred in Thibodaux this past weekend, and the third suspect in those burglaries has been arrested. Rashon Maize (age 19) of Thibodaux was arrested Thursday. Maize and Diamonte Johnson (age 17) of Thibodaux, who was arrested Monday, now face 19 additional counts of burglary.

As previously released, deputies and detectives responded to multiple reports of vehicle burglaries on the morning of Saturday, June 18, which had occurred overnight on Park Drive and other adjacent streets. A firearm, small electronic items, and loose change were stolen from the vehicles.  Through investigation, detectives developed Johnson, Maize, and Patrick Jones Jr. (age 17) of Thibodaux as suspects. On Monday, June 20, Johnson was arrested after some of the stolen items were found in his possession. He was initially charged with 15 counts of Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, three (3) counts of Attempted Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle and Contempt of Court. He has now been booked on 19 additional counts of Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, and his bond is now set at $25,300. Jones was also arrested Monday and booked with a single count of Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. His bond remains set at $5,000.

On Thursday, June 23, officers with the Thibodaux Police Department received information on Maize’s whereabouts, and he was arrested without incident. He was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on warrants for 34 counts of Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle and three (3) counts of Attempted Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. His bond is set at $30,000.

The investigation into the string of burglaries is continuing, and additional charges are still possible.
