Sheriff Craig Webre reported the arrest of fugitive Rashad Hester (age 26) of Raceland on Tuesday, December 7. Hester was wanted on a myriad of charges including two counts of armed robbery and cocaine distribution.

The first robbery occurred during the late night hours of Sunday, August 14 when a man and a woman stopped at a residence on Brocato Lane in Raceland, and they were approached by two males, later identified as Hester and a juvenile. The woman’s purse was taken at gunpoint, and the suspects fled the scene as the victims escaped in their vehicle. Then on Friday, September 16, Hester was involved in a verbal altercation with another man on Brocato Lane. During the altercation, Hester pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the man, and demanded money. The victim gave Hester cash and fled the scene. Deputies returned to the area the following day and located Hester, but he immediately fled on foot and evaded deputies. Following the incidents, deputies obtained warrants for Hester’s arrest for two counts of Armed Robbery and Resisting an Officer. They later also obtained a warrant for Disturbing the Peace – Engaging in a Fistic Encounter following an investigation into a fight on Williams Street on Saturday, September 24. Hester was taken into custody without incident, and he was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on the aforementioned warrants for two counts of Armed Robbery, Resisting an Officer, Distribution of Cocaine, Disturbing the Peace, and Violation of Parole. He was also found to have three warrants for Contempt of Court. His bond is set at $227,500, but he is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole due to the parole violation.
