Due to the weather forecast for our area from Hurricane Laura, Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre has announced that the administrative offices of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will be closed on Thursday, August 27. Tentatively, Sheriff Webre hopes to reopen offices for normal hours of operation on Friday, August 28.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will continue to serve and protect our community during Hurricane Laura. We have increased patrols and will utilize all resources necessary to help keep citizens safe and secure. In the event of an emergency, please call 911. For non-emergencies, call (985) 532-2808.

At 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, LA Highway 1 was closed at the Leon Theriot Lock in Golden Meadow due to rising water on the roadway. At this time it is unknown when the roadway will reopen. A mandatory evacuation remains in effect for all residents and businesses south of the Leon Theriot Flood Gate and other low-lying areas, including Port Fourchon.
