Lafourche Parish officials will enact a 6 p.m. curfew tonight due to the updated weather forecast for Hurricane Ida and will stay in place until further notice for the duration of the storm. All businesses should be closed by 6 p.m. in time for employees to make it home and prepare for the incoming storm. Lafourche a Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies will be out enforcing the curfew but will allow a grace period until 7 p.m. for business workers to arrive home. Essential personnel should be carrying their ID or placard displaying they are indeed essential personnel. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has a full deployment of staff to maintain security in our community.
Larose Man Found with Meth and Handgun During Traffic Stop
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a Larose man found with methamphetamine and a firearm during a traffic stop. Scotty Wade, 35, faces several felony charges in relation to the incident.
Narcotics agents had been investigating Scotty Gisclair and his involvement in the sale of illegal narcotics at his residence on East Avenue A in Larose. Gisclair also had three warrants for Contempt of Court. At around 10:45 p.m. on August 24, 2021, agents located Gisclair traveling in the Raceland area and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, a K-9 unit alerted to the possible presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. Agents then conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered a handgun and approximately four ounces of methamphetamine located in close proximity to children passengers inside the vehicle.
Based on their investigations, deputies then obtained a search warrant for Gisclair’s residence. There, agents found additional drug paraphernalia commonly associated with the sale of illegal narcotics.
Gisclair was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. He was booked with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Illegal Use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of Persons Under 17, Illegal Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and improper lane usage. He was also booked on three outstanding warrants for Contempt of Court. Bail is set at $189,400.

UPDATE: Man Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting Booked on Charges from Incident
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a man who was injured in a shooting incident in Mathews involving a deputy on Sunday has been booked on charges stemming from the incident. Daniel Boudreaux, 34, of Dulac was booked with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer and other charges.
As previously released, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call on the night of August 22, 2021, regarding Boudreaux causing a disturbance at a residence on Linda Street in Lockport. He was reportedly armed with a rifle and possibly suicidal. As deputies were responding, they learned Boudreaux had left the residence in a pickup truck. A deputy located the truck and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Boudreaux refused to stop and turned onto Adams Street in Mathews. Boudreaux stopped the vehicle in the 200 block and exited with a rifle. He began running, and the deputy gave commands for him to stop. Boudreaux then turned and raised the rifle toward the deputy. The deputy then fired at Boudreaux, striking him in the arm. The deputy rendered first aid until an ambulance arrived and transported Boudreaux to a hospital. He was eventually transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans for treatment.
Through investigation after the incident, an eyewitness told investigators the man had made statements earlier in the evening indicating a desire to die in a “suicide by cop” situation. Detectives also learned he had stolen the rifle from the Linda Street residence. Detectives obtained warrants for Theft of a Firearm, Flight from an Officer, and Reckless Operation.
Per Sheriff Webre’s request, Louisiana State Police investigated the shooting itself and obtained warrants for Boudreaux for Aggravated Assault upon a Peace Officer and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
On Wednesday, August 25, Boudreaux was released from University Medical Center and was taken into custody. He was initially booked into Orleans Parish Prison. He was then transferred to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex where he was booked on the aforementioned warrants. Bail is set at $176,000.
RUNAWAY TEEN: Trent Truxillo
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre is asking for the public’s help in locating 15-year-old Trent Truxillo of Lockport. He was last seen on or around August 14, 2021. Truxillo has a history of leaving home and not returning in a timely manner. He is described as 5’5″ tall, weighing approximately 155 pounds with dark brown hair. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 532-2808, or simply dial 911.

LPSO to Conduct Online Tax Title Sale on September 15, 2021
Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a tax title sale on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. The tax sale will begin at 8 A.M. and conclude at 8 P.M. or earlier if all properties are sold. By hosting the sale online, bidders that would not normally be able to attend the auction in person are still able to participate.
This sale is open to the general public. Free registration and a list of available properties are now available through our website at LPSO.net/TaxSale. Bidders are encouraged to participate online from the comfort and privacy of their own computer, but if you wish to attend in person, a limited number of computer terminals will be available on the date of the tax sale on the third floor of the Ferd H. Block Building, located at 200 West 2nd Street in Thibodaux. These computer terminals will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. An LPSO representative will be on hand to answer any questions and direct you to a computer terminal.
A tax title sale is the sale of properties that have delinquent taxes due. The tax titles for these properties are sold to the public for the amount of the delinquent taxes due, plus any accrued interest, penalties, costs, and other statutory impositions. The tax title sale is a “low bid wins” style auction in which the property is sold to the purchaser willing to bid on the least percent ownership interest in the property. Winning bidders of the tax sale are expected to pay for their purchases within 72 hours of the close of the auction. Payment must be made in full, and all sales are final.
To avoid having property sold at tax sale, property owners must remit property tax payments by 11:59 P.M. on September 13, 2021. Online tax payments cannot be made after that deadline. Bills not paid in full by that time will result in the property being sold at the tax sale on September 15, 2021. Tax payments can be made at the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Administration Office (200 Canal Boulevard, Thibodaux) or at the South Lafourche Sub-station (102 W. 91st Street, Cut Off). Plans Announced for Labor Day 2021 Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced plans for the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign which runs from August 20 through September 6, 2021, centered around the Labor Day holiday. The campaign is coordinated and funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
As part of the campaign efforts, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will assign additional deputies to saturated patrol efforts to target impaired drivers and help keep motorists safe. Additionally, LPSO deputies will conduct a seat belt checkpoint and a DWI checkpoint. A seat belt checkpoint will be conducted during the evening hours of August 27, 2021. A DWI checkpoint will also begin during the evening hours of August 27, 2021, and continue into the early morning hours of the following day.
During the seat belt checkpoint, deputies will be checking motorists for seat belt and safety seat violations, as well as other violations such as expired inspection tags. During the DWI checkpoint, deputies will be looking for drivers who are possibly impaired while checking for other traffic safety issues, including but not limited to seat belt usage. Remember that Lafourche Parish is a “No Refusal” parish, meaning if a suspected drunk driver refuses a breathalyzer test, deputies will seek a search warrant to have that person’s blood tested.
Sheriff Webre reminds everyone to designate a driver if you are going to drink. Have a plan on how you will arrive home BEFORE you leave home.
Detectives Investigating Saturday Shooting Incident on LA Highway 182 in Raceland
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre is asking for the public’s help in an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on LA Highway 182 early Saturday morning. There were no injuries in the shooting.
At 3:30 a.m. on August 14, 2021, deputies responded to a 911 call of someone shooting at vehicles traveling eastbound on LA Highway 182. One vehicle, being driven by a Lockport woman, was struck on the driver’s side resulting in a shattered window, a flat tire, and damage from the rounds. A second vehicle, being driven by a New Orleans man, was struck in a tire resulting in a flat. Detectives believe the shots came from a person in a vehicle parked in the median on LA 182.
Detectives are asking the public for help on this investigation. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers Bayou Region by phone at 1-800-743-7433, online at www.crimestoppersbr.org, or through the Bayou Tips app on mobile devices. Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 in cash if the information leads to an arrest.
Rape Aggression Defense Course to be Held in Raceland in September
Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) course on September 20 and 21, 2021, at the LPSO Shooting Range Facility located at 3451 Highway 182 in Raceland.
This self-defense course is designed exclusively for women and will take place over the course of both days. The class will begin at 6 p.m. and end around 9:30 p.m. each day. Participants must attend both days, and participants must wear a face covering during class. Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak in our area, we encourage immediate family members to sign up for a class as a pair if possible, but this is not required. Course instruction will be provided by certified R.A.D. instructors from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The cost of the course is $10 to cover the cost of course materials and is non-refundable. Class size is limited, and advance registration is required. You can register and pay for the course online at www.LPSO.net/classes. The deadline to register for the class is September 17, 2021, at 11 a.m.

Teen Charged with Negligent Homicide in Shooting Death of Thibodaux Man
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a 15-year-old boy has been charged with negligent homicide in the shooting death of a Thibodaux man on Thursday night. Courtney Poche Jr., 20, died after suffering a gunshot wound to the head. Poche and the teen were found to have been playing with a handgun prior to the incident.
At 11:08 p.m. on August 12, 2021, deputies and detectives responded to a shooting at a residence in the 500 block of Karla Drive in Thibodaux. They discovered Poche with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the head. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Through investigation, detectives learned Poche and a 15-year-old boy from Thibodaux were playing with a pistol when the gun discharged a single round striking Poche in the head. Detectives learned the two thought the gun was not loaded.
The teen was charged with Negligent Homicide. He was placed at the Juvenile Justice Facility in Thibodaux.
“This is a horrible tragedy, and our hearts go out to Mr. Poche’s family,” said Sheriff Webre. “I encouraged all parents to review firearm safety for themselves and with their children. Remember to keep firearms secure, and it is best to store ammunition in a separate location. Above all else, always treat every firearm as it if is loaded.”
