Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of an Alabama man who made multiple “swatting” calls to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office in August. Korey Flood Sr., 25, of Mobile was arrested and transported to Lafourche Parish last week.

In August 2025, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office received several unusual calls for service, directing deputies to a residence in the 200 block of Plymouth Street in Thibodaux. These calls involved shooting victims, drug activity, and an armed kidnapping. Deputies responded to each of these calls, determining each to be untrue.

Through an extensive investigation, detectives determined that each of the calls for service originated from an Alabama resident, identified as Flood, who was using apps and prepaid phones in some cases. Following the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for Flood’s arrest for four counts of false communication with the intent to cause an emergency response.

Flood was arrested in Alabama and extradited to Lafourche Parish. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on October 23, 2025, on the aforementioned warrants. He was released the following day after posting bond in the amount of $10,000.

“Swatting incidents like this waste valuable law enforcement resources and put both our deputies and innocent residents at unnecessary risk,” said Sheriff Webre. “We hope this case serves as an example to would-be swatters that our detectives have the skills and ability to thoroughly investigate these incidents and find those responsible.”

Swatting is false reporting an emergency to public safety agencies by a person for the intent of getting a (“SWAT team”) response to a location where no emergency exists. Often, the law enforcement response is substantial, with police confronting the unsuspecting victims at gunpoint, only to learn that there is no real emergency. Those making these calls may do so for “fun” and viewed as a prank, while other times it is used as retaliation against the victim.
