Sheriff Craig Webre announced that donations are still being accepted for the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office’s 33rd annual Christmas Bicycle Giveaway. Since 1992, around 6,000 bicycles have been distributed to our area’s needy families. In 2025 alone, more than 200 new bikes were delivered to children throughout Lafourche Parish.
LPSO is accepting donations of new bicycles or monetary donations in the form of cash or a check to purchase new bikes. Checks should be made payable to the Lafourche Deputies Association with “Bike Giveaway” in the memo line. New bicycles and monetary donations may be dropped off at any Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office location throughout the parish. Donations are accepted year-round. For questions regarding donations, please contact Captain Brennan Matherne at brennan-matherne@lpso.net or call (985) 632-5843.
“For more than three decades, this program has helped make Christmas morning a little brighter for thousands of children across Lafourche Parish,” said Sheriff Webre. “The joy a new bicycle brings to a child is something truly special, and it’s only possible because of the generosity and compassion of our community. We encourage everyone who can to help us continue this wonderful tradition and ensure more children experience the magic of Christmas.”
Beginning on November 16, 2026, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will begin taking names of children in need of bicycles. Due to high demand, requests should be limited to no more than two bicycles per family. Further details, including the link to sign up online, will be released on November 16.
