Man Arrested After Shooting Two Dogs Resulting in One’s Death

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a Larose man has been arrested after shooting at two dogs, resulting in the death of one. Jason Breaux, 38, is charged with two counts of aggravated animal cruelty and illegal use of weapons.

On February 28, 2021, deputies responded to an incident on Ledet Lane in Larose. Through investigation, deputies learned Breaux owned two pit bulls who had become entangled. In an attempt to separate the dogs, Breaux allegedly began repeatedly punching them. Once they were separated, Breaux retrieved a firearm and intentionally fired rounds at both dogs. One was struck and killed. The other suffered graze wounds from the rounds. Breaux then retrieved the body of the deceased dog and reportedly threw it into Bayou Lafourche.

The incident was reported several hours after it had taken place, and Breaux was not present when deputies arrived. Deputies continued their investigation into the incident and obtained warrants for Breaux’s arrest.

On March 4, 2021, deputies made contact with Breaux and took him into custody. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on two counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and Illegal use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities. Bail is set at $255,000.

Detectives Seeking Shoplifter at Cut Off Hardware Store

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in an investigation into a shoplifting theft at a hardware store in Cut Off.

On March 1, 2021, detectives began investigating the complaint after the store manager noticed an instance of shoplifting on surveillance footage from January 27, 2021. In the video, a white male subject places tool parts in his pocket without paying for them. He then left the area in a late model black Chevrolet Silverado.

Anyone who can identify this man or anyone with any other information on this crime is asked to submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers Bayou Region by phone at 1-800-743-7433 or online at www.crimestoppersbr.org. Tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers through the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office mobile app. Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 in cash if the information leads to an arrest.

Man Charged with Sexual Battery and Indecent Behavior Involving Teenage Girl

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a Raceland man for inappropriately touching a teenage girl. Ryan Guidroz, 38, is charged with sexual battery and indecent behavior with a juvenile in the incident.

On the morning of February 27, 2021, a woman contacted the Sheriff’s Office after learning Guidroz allegedly touched her teenage daughter inappropriately. The incident reportedly occurred while the juvenile was sleeping, and she awoke to find Guidroz touching her.

Deputies made contact with Guidroz on February 28, and he admitted to the alleged actions. He was taken into custody and transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. Based on the circumstances of the incident, he was booked on charges of Sexual Battery (Forcible Fondling) and Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile. He was also booked on an outstanding warrant for Illegal Carrying of Weapons stemming from a separate incident. Bail is set at $30,500.

Thibodaux Man Found with Variety of Drugs in Vehicle in Raceland

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a Thibodaux man who was found with a variety of narcotics just outside a Raceland hospital early Monday morning. David Ball, 45, faces several charges in the incident.

At around 12:30 a.m. on March 1, 2021, deputies noticed a vehicle traveling erratically in the area near Ochsner St. Anne Hospital. Eventually, the driver of the vehicle parked near the emergency room. Deputies made contact with the driver to check on him, and detected the odor of suspected marijuana coming from the vehicle. Deputies identified the driver as David Ball and learned he had a warrant for his arrest in Terrebonne Parish.

A K-9 deputy which was on scene alerted to the possible presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, and Ball admitted to having marijuana and drug paraphernalia. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located suspected marijuana and paraphernalia, as well as a handgun. Deputies also located a canister which was found to contain various drugs, some packed in separate bags. In all, Ball was found to have over 75 grams of suspected methamphetamine, over 30 grams of suspected marijuana, and over 11 grams of suspected heroin, as well as four doses of Suboxone and three doses of methadone.

Ball was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. He is charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Heroin, and Marijuana, as well as  Possession of Methadone, Suboxone, and Drug Paraphernalia. He is additionally charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Bail has not yet been set, and he is also being held as a fugitive of Terrebonne Parish.

Rape Aggression Defense Course to be Held in Thibodaux in March

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) course on March 29 and 30, 2021, at the LPSO Law Enforcement Complex located at 1300 Lynn Street in Thibodaux.

This self-defense course is designed exclusively for women and will take place over the course of both days. The class will begin at 6 p.m. and end around 9:30 p.m. each day. Participants must attend both days, and participants must wear a face covering during class. Course instruction will be provided by certified R.A.D. instructors from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The cost of the course is $10 to cover the cost of course materials and is non-refundable. Class size is limited, and advance registration is required. You can register and pay for the course online at www.LPSO.net/classes. The deadline to register for the class is March 26, 2021, at 11 a.m.

Man Arrested in Abbeville after Stranding Woman and Infant Child on U.S. 90

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a man has been arrested after stranding a woman and her infant child on U.S. Highway 90 in Raceland on Thursday afternoon. Dillon Terrebonne, 27, of Cut Off was arrested in Abbeville later that night. He faces charges of domestic abuse with child endangerment and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

At around 4:15 p.m. on February 25, 2021, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned citizen who had stopped to assist a woman and child who were stranded along U.S. Highway 90 in Raceland. Through investigation, deputies learned Dillon Terrebonne was driving the woman’s SUV when the two began to argue. At one point, Terrebonne stopped along the highway and exited the vehicle. He walked to the passenger seat where he began striking the woman in the head and strangled her. The woman was able to free herself from Terrebonne and exit the vehicle. Terrebonne then entered the vehicle and began driving off. He then stopped and removed the infant carrier car seat from the vehicle, placed it on the side of the highway, and continued driving westbound. The woman rushed to the infant and secured the child for safety. A passing motorist stopped to assist, and deputies arrived a short time later. The woman and her child were then transported to a safe location.

On Thursday night, officers with the Abbeville Police Department located Terrebonne driving the vehicle, and he was taken into custody. He is being held in Vermillion Parish awaiting transport to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex where he will be booked on charges including Domestic Abuse Battery Involving Strangulation and Child Endangerment and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Total bail has not yet been set.

The investigation into this incident is continuing, and additional charges are possible.

UPDATE: Investigation Continues into Thibodaux Homicide

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre said an investigation into the death of a Schriever man whose body was discovered on Tuesday morning is continuing. The body of 30-year-old Clinton Keplinger IV was found on Burma Road in Thibodaux, and his death is being investigated as a homicide.

At around 3:15 a.m., a motorist driving on Burma Road discovered Keplinger’s body lying in the roadway and reported it to the Sheriff’s Office. He was found to have died from several gunshot wounds. The investigation into his death is continuing.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced detectives are currently on scene investigating the death of a man whose body was found on Burma Road in Thibodaux early Tuesday morning. The man’s death is being investigated as a suspected homicide.

Currently, Burma Road is CLOSED in both directions in the 1400 block. Local traffic must detour around this area.

UPDATE: Arrest Made in Early Friday Morning Shooting Death of Thibodaux Man

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced an arrest has been made in connection to the shooting death of a Thibodaux man early Friday morning. Louis Foret, 29, of Morgan City is charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of 38-year-old Chance Benoit of Thibodaux.

At 1:10 a.m. on February 19, 2021, deputies responded a report of gunshots being heard in the area of West Camelia Drive in Thibodaux, and officers from the Thibodaux Police Department also responded to assist. They arrived at a residence in the 2500 block and discovered an adult male with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as Benoit, was pronounced dead.

Through investigation, detectives learned Foret was at Benoit’s residence when they began fighting. Foret eventually walked out of the residence and the two continued a verbal altercation as Benoit stood in his doorway. Foret then brandished a gun and allegedly fired several rounds at Benoit. He also walked up to Benoit and fired shots at close range before leaving the residence.

Detectives made contact with Foret on Friday afternoon and brought him in to the Criminal Operations Center in Lockport for questioning. While at the facility, Foret attempted to escape from custody, but was quickly apprehended.

Foret was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. He is charged with Second Degree Murder and Simple Escape. Bail is set at $550,000.

Two Raceland Men Arrested for Trespassing, Theft and Other Charges

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced two Raceland men have been arrested after they were found trespassing and stealing scrap metal in Raceland on Thursday. Torrey Barlow Sr., 42, and David Barlow Jr., 37, each face charges in the investigation.

At around 1:30 p.m. on February 18, 2021, patrol deputies located the Barlows in a wooded area just off U.S. Highway 90 in Raceland. Through investigation, deputies learned the Barlows had allegedly stolen scrap metal from private property in that area. David Barlow Jr. was also found to have methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a rifle in his possession. Both men were arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux.

David Barlow Jr. had been the suspect in another trespassing incident in Raceland, and he was charged in that investigation as well. In all, he was charged with two counts of Criminal Trespassing, Felony Theft, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was released after posting $30,800 bail.

Meanwhile, Torrey Barlow Sr. was charged with Criminal Trespassing and Felony Theft for Thursday’s incident. He remains at the Correctional Complex, and bail is set at $10,500.

The investigation into the Barlows is continuing.
