Correctional Officer Arrested for Bringing Contraband into Correctional Complex

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the dismissal and arrest of a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office correctional officer on Monday. Natacia Brown, 20, of Thibodaux was terminated upon her arrest.

Last week, an investigation was launched after Correctional Complex administrators learned Brown had reportedly supplied synthetic marijuana to an inmate at the facility. Investigators learned Brown had allegedly taken part in a transaction that was coordinated outside the facility, brought the contraband into the complex, and provided it to the inmate. When investigators questioned Brown about the incident, she admitted to her involvement. They also learned of a second incident in which she was involved in trying to bring other drugs into the facility on another date.

Brown was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. She was charged with taking contraband to a penal institution, attempted taking contraband to a penal institution, and malfeasance in office. Bail is set at $150,000.

Brown’s employment with the sheriff’s office lasted just over two years and ended upon her arrest. She had been assigned as a correctional officer at the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex.
