UPDATE: Inmates Charged in Investigation into Contraband at Correctional Complex

Sheriff Craig Webre announced investigators have charged three inmates in an investigation into contraband being brought to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex. Inmates Kelvin Davis, 23, David Bonds, 36, and Daquan Nash, 29, have been charged in the investigation. On Monday, a former correctional officer, Natacia Brown, 20, of Thibodaux, was arrested and terminated for her involvement.

As previously released, an investigation was launched last week after Correctional Complex administrators learned Brown had allegedly taken part in a transaction that was coordinated outside the facility, brought contraband into the complex, and provided it to an inmate. They also learned of a second incident in which she was involved in trying to bring other drugs into the facility. Brown was booked into the Correctional Complex in Thibodaux on charges including taking contraband to a penal institution, attempted taking contraband to a penal institution, and malfeasance in office. She was released on October 15 after posting bail in the amount of $150,000.

Investigators also discovered inmates Davis, Bonds, and Nash were involved in the incidents and were charged accordingly.

Davis was charged with taking contraband to a penal institution. He is currently serving a sentence for second degree murder. He is also being held on additional charges, including 11 counts of simple burglary of a motor vehicle and illegal possession of stolen things.

Bonds was being held on charges including attempted second degree murder and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was charged with principal to taking contraband to a penal institution. His bail is now set at $700,000, and he is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole as a parole violator.

Nash was in jail for possession with intent to distribute heroin and methamphetamine, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting an officer, aggravated flight from an officer, expired driver’s license, traffic violations, and contempt of court. He was charged with attempted taking of contraband to a penal institution. His bail is now set at $2.594 million. He is also being held as a fugitive of the parishes of Assumption and Terrebonne and as a parole violator.

The investigation is continuing, and additional arrests are expected.
