Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a 17-year-old Larose man for various weapons charges. Riot Trahan was arrested for the second time in a week on Friday.
The investigation began on September 29, 2026, when deputies responded to a report of rapid gunfire at around 7:30 p.m. in the area of East 116th Street in Galliano. When deputies arrived, they saw a vehicle leaving the area where the gunshots were heard. Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified Trahan as the driver. He admitted to firing a gun into a ditch in the area. Deputies obtained consent to search the vehicle and discovered an AR pistol equipped with a forced reset trigger, as well as two other pistols. Deputies also found a functional 3D-printed firearm with no serial numbers or other manufacturer marks, which had a fully automatic switch installed. Trahan was arrested and charged with handling of machine guns and possession of an unidentifiable firearm. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex and was subsequently released on Wednesday, September 30, after posting bail in the amount of $30,000.
Further investigation and evidence, including information about the manufacturing of illegal switches, led detectives to obtain a search warrant for Trahan’s home on Oak D Street in Larose. They conducted a search on Friday, October 9, and discovered more illegal firearms and illegal switches, as well as 3D printers and related equipment believed to be used to manufacture the illegal firearms and switches. Detectives also found psilocybin (mushrooms) and drug paraphernalia.
Trahan, who was present at the time of the search, was arrested again and booked into the Correctional Complex. This time, he was charged with two additional counts of handling machine guns (possession and manufacturing), possession of psilocybin, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Bail is set at $81,500.
