Fugitive Felon Arrested Following Shooting Incident in Galliano

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a convicted felon wanted for a parole violation was arrested following a shooting incident outside his residence. Hunter Bachelot, 48, of Galliano faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a firearm.

Just after 7 p.m. on November 4, 2026, LPSO deputies, along with Port Fourchon Harbor Police and Golden Meadow Police, responded to a call of a shooting incident outside a residence on West Main Street in Galliano. Deputies learned two men had been in an argument when one of the men, Bachelot, pulled a gun on the other and fired a shot at the ground in front of him. Deputies also learned Bachelot had obtained the gun by stealing it from the victim’s truck. He also kicked and damaged the truck during the argument.

Deputies located a shell casing believed to be evidence of the shot fired. They also learned Bachelot was a convicted felon wanted for violating parole in connection with an armed robbery charge in Louisiana. He was also wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Texas.

Bachelot was not present when deputies arrived. He returned to the residence while deputies were on scene, and he was taken into custody. He was transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux where he was booked on charges including aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal use of weapons, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, simple burglary of a motor vehicle, and simple criminal damage to property. Bail on those charges is set at $175,000. He is also being held for the parole violation and as a fugitive of Jefferson County in Texas.
