Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Elijah Jackson Jr. (age 49) on Thursday, January 18. At around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling along LA Highway 316 in Bayou Blue. Deputies made contact with the driver who initially gave a false name and date of birth. Deputies noticed the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. While speaking to the driver, deputies discovered he had given a false identity, and learned his true identity was actually Elijah Jackson Jr, and they learned he had active warrants for Terrebonne Parish and Gwinnett County in Georgia. Jackson was found to be in possession of small amounts of suspected marijuana, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and several types of pills, as well as counterfeit bills. He was arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. He was booked with Possession of Marijuana (3rd and Subsequent Offenses), as well as Possession of Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Diazepam, Alprazolam, and drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with Monetary Instrument Abuse, Resisting an Officer, no driver’s license, improper lane usage. His bond on the Lafourche Parish charges is set at $51,500. He is also being held on a Felony Forgery warrant from Gwinnett County, Georgia, as well as warrants for drug possession in Terrebonne Parish.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Demarcus Sylvester (age 25) of Raceland on Wednesday, January 17. At around 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on St. Louis Street in Raceland. Deputies made contact with the driver and identified him as Demarcus Sylvester. Deputies immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and a handgun and several suspected marijuana cigarettes were observed inside the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, deputies discovered a black duffel bag containing several large bags of marijuana and other items. In all, deputies seized approximately 397 grams (14 ounces) of suspected marijuana and 3 marijuana cigarettes, as well as three grams of suspected crack cocaine, 8 hydrocodone pills, a bottle of codeine, and drug paraphernalia. Sylvester was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. He was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Crack Cocaine, and Hydrocodone, as well as Possession of Codeine and Drug Paraphernalia, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and illegal parking (R.S. 32:143). His bond is set at $47,850.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a Schriever man arrested in connection to an armed robbery which occurred on Christmas has been released and cleared in the investigation. Hakeam Drane (age 27) was released from jail on Friday, January 12. Detectives are still investigating the incident.
Just after 10 p.m. on Monday, December 25, deputies responded to a call of an armed robbery at a residence on Dupre Street in Bayou Blue. Through investigation at the scene, deputies learned a woman and two juveniles were at the residence when three black males wearing black beanie hats and black jackets entered the residence. At least one of the subjects was armed with a handgun. The three men searched the residence and stole two cell phones. The suspects then left the residence and fled the area on foot. Through investigation, detectives developed Drane as one of the suspects and he was identified by witnesses. A warrant was obtained, and Drane was arrested on January 3, 2018. He was charged with Armed Robbery in the incident.
Detectives questioned Drane about the incident, and he denied any involvement. He also gave the name of a person whom he was with at the time. Through further investigation, detectives learned Drane was at a store in Thibodaux at the time of the robbery and obtained video evidence. This eliminated Drane as a suspect in the case. Charges on Drane were subsequently dropped, and he was released from the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on Friday, January 12.
Detectives are continuing their investigation into this robbery. Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced five more individuals have been charged in connection to multiple burglary investigations. This follows the arrest of three men for burglaries this past weekend.
Jaquan Cooper (age 19) of Raceland has been arrested in connection to a convenience store burglary which occurred on December 27, 2017 on LA Highway 1 in Raceland. Deputies previously arrested Dante Hester (age 25) of Raceland after he admitted to his involvement in the crime. Through further investigation, Cooper was developed as a second suspect in the burglary. Meanwhile, juvenile detectives were also investigating Cooper in reference to allegations he had sexual intercourse with a minor teenage girl. Investigators obtained warrants for Cooper in both investigations. On January 16, Cooper was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. He is charged with Simple Burglary and Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile. His bond is set at $45,000, but he is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole. Hester remains in jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
Arrondrick Shelby Jr. (age 20) of Raceland was arrested in reference to a burglary of a residence on Elm Drive in Raceland on January 14. Just before 10 p.m., a man awoke to discover Shelby inside his residence. He confronted Shelby and a verbal altercation ensued. Shelby eventually left the residence. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Shelby had crashed a car into a ditch and fled the area on foot. He had stolen several items, including jewelry and cash, during the burglary. Deputies obtained a warrant for Shelby’s arrest, and he was apprehended on Tuesday, January 16. He was booked on one count of Simple Burglary, and his bond is set at $30,000.
Danny Raffray (age 55) of Houma was arrested in connection with an investigation into theft at a residence on Bayou Blue Road on Tuesday, January 16. Raffray, who was privately employed by the homeowner, was found to have been stealing several items from the residence and the workshop, including televisions, power tools, cash, and a heater. Investigators also found Raffray made several unauthorized purchases on the homeowner’s credit card. When questioned by detectives, Raffray admitted to his involvement in the crimes. Raffray was arrested on Tuesday and booked with Simple Burglary and Felony Theft. His bond is set at $30,000.
Roderick Reed Jr. (age 19) and Tyler Holmes (age 19), both of Thibodaux, were arrested on Wednesday, January 17. At around 3:20 a.m., deputies responded to reports of vehicle burglaries in the Choupic area. After obtaining a description of the suspects’ vehicle, deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of LA Highways 308 and 304. The driver was identified as Reed, and Holmes was the passenger. The two were found to have items stolen during the vehicle burglaries in their possession, and Holmes was also found to have small amounts of suspected marijuana and oxycodone pills in his possession. Reed and Holmes were booked with three counts each of Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. Reed’s bond was set at $30,000. Holmes was also charged with Possession of Marijuana and Oxycodone. His bond is set at $35,250.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced recent burglary investigations have resulted in three arrests. Ronald Usea Jr (age 48) of Des Allemands was arrested Monday and faces 17 counts of burglary in addition to other charges. Clint Price (age 22) and Nicholas Domangue (age 22), both of Gray, also face two counts of burglary in a separate investigation.
In late October 2017, deputies had conducted an investigation into a business burglary wherein $2,500 had been stolen from a Des Allemands business over the course of 14 separate burglaries dating back to mid-September 2017. A subsequent burglary investigation at the business in November resulted in Ronald Usea Jr. being identified as the suspect and warrants were issued for his arrest.
Then on Sunday, January 14, deputies responded to an attempted burglary at a residence on LA Highway 1 in Raceland. Upon arrival, deputies learned a male subject attempted to burglarize two sheds. They also learned of a burglary at a residence on Danos Street. Then at around 2 a.m. on Monday, January 15, deputies responded to the same residence on LA 1 in Raceland after a burglary alarm had sounded on the shed. While on scene, deputies observed an individual fitting the suspect’s description approximately 200 yards away. The suspect, identified as Usea, attempted to flee on foot but then surrendered to deputies. Usea admitted to cutting the locks on the sheds and burglarizing the shed when the alarm sounded, and he admitted to the burglary Danos Street. He was also found to have a small amount of methamphetamine in his possession.
Usea was arrested and transported to the Detention Center. He was booked on the aforementioned warrants for 15 counts of Simple Burglary and one for a probation violation. He was additionally charged with two more counts of Simple Burglary, two counts of Attempted Simple Burglary, and Possession of Methamphetamine. His bond is set at $148,000, and he is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole.
In a separate investigation, detectives were looking into two burglaries which had occurred at residences on Julie Street in Gray on January 9, 2018. Detectives developed Clint Price and Nicholas Domangue as suspects in the burglaries. Following an investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants for both. They made contact with them over the weekend, and they were both arrested. Domangue and Price were booked into the Detention Center with two counts each of Simple Burglary. Bond is set at $40,000 each. Domangue is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a Thibodaux man has been arrested in connection to multiple burglaries. Kip Bryant (age 49), who is also wanted in Terrebonne Parish, now faces three burglary charges in Lafourche Parish. He was arrested following a pursuit after he fled from a traffic stop on Wednesday.
Detectives had been investigating multiple burglaries in the Central Lafourche area over the past few weeks. On the evening of Tuesday, January 9, another burglary was reported at a residence in the 2700 block of LA Highway 308 in Raceland. Forced entry was made at the rear door of the residence. Several items were stolen during the burglary, including jewelry and food items. Detectives also obtained a description of the suspect and the vehicle – a blue 2005 Jeep Liberty – and developed Kip Bryant as the suspect.
Then at around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, deputies located Bryant driving northbound on LA Highway 1 in his vehicle. Deputies conducted a traffic stop just south of Lafourche Crossing in Thibodaux. Deputies ordered Bryant out of the vehicle, but he refused to comply. Bryant then fled the traffic stop, heading northbound on LA 1. Deputies followed Bryant who was traveling at a high rate of speed. Thibodaux Police officers were notified and responded to assist. Bryant continued onto North Canal Boulevard, and he drove toward the Warren J. Harang Jr. Municipal Auditorium where he stopped and attempted to flee on foot. He was apprehended soon thereafter by Thibodaux Police officers.
Detectives made contact with Bryant, and during questioning, he admitted to burglarizing three residences. Deputies recovered multiple stolen articles in Bryant’s vehicle.
Bryant was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on three counts of Simple Burglary. He was additionally booked as a fugitive of Terrebonne Parish due to an outstanding warrant for Contempt of Court. His bond is set at $175,000.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a Thibodaux man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred Monday afternoon at a grocery store in Galliano. Charleston Every (age 30) of Thibodaux is charged with armed robbery in the incident.
At bout 1:15 p.m. on Monday, January 8, deputies and detectives responded to a call of an armed robbery at a grocery store on West Main Street in Galliano. Upon arrival, investigators learned a male subject wearing all black entered the store, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from a cashier. Upon leaving the store, investigators discovered the suspect fled to a residence on West 185th Street. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence. Upon arrival, they made contact with the owner and Charleston Every, who were present at the residence. Detectives discovered evidence at the residence, developed Every as a suspect, and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Every was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. He was booked on one count of Armed Robbery. His bond is set at $25,000.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Jason Copper (age 40) of Baldwin. At around 8:45 a.m. on January 3, deputies were investigating a burglary at a Thibodaux residence on LA Highway 308. A man had spotted the suspect parked at a family member’s residence and approached him. As he did, the suspect entered the sedan and fled the scene. Through investigation, deputies learned a ring, a pistol, and a rifle had been stolen from the residence. Meanwhile, other deputies learned the suspect’s vehicle was traveling along LA 20. Information about the suspect’s vehicle was relayed to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. TPSO deputies located the vehicle, and the driver, identified as Copper, was taken into custody. When deputies questioned Copper about the burglary, he admitted to his involvement. Copper was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. He was charged with Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. His bond is set at $175,000, and he is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole due to being on parole.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported a one-year-old child died after being accidentally struck by a vehicle at his residence. Cai Crosby of Larose was pronounced dead at Ochsner St. Anne Hospital on Wednesday night following the incident.
At around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, deputies responded to Crosby’s residence on LA Highway 1 in Larose after a concerned citizen reported hearing screaming and crying. Investigators learned Cai’s mother, Tralyn Crosby (age 35), was backing her vehicle when she struck the one-year-old child. EMTs arrived on scene and transported Cai to Ochsner St. Anne Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Neither impairment nor foul play is suspected as a factor in the crash. At this time, no criminal charges have been filed in this case.
“This is a horrible tragedy for this family and the community,” said Sheriff Craig Webre. “My heart goes out to the family, and I pray they can find peace in such a difficult time.”
