The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced a Concealed Handgun Training Course will be held on Sunday, June 25 at the LPSO Shooting Range Facility located at 3451 Highway 182 in Raceland. The class will begin at 8:00 a.m. and last until approximately 5:00 p.m. with a break for lunch. The actual ending time will vary due to class size.

The cost for the course is $110, and advance registration is suggested due to limited class size. This course is a pre-requisite for those applying for a Concealed Handgun Permit from the State of Louisiana. Participants will need to bring 50 rounds of ammunition, eye protection (sunglasses or eyeglasses are sufficient), and ear protection (muffs or plugs).
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a Autumn Picou (age 32) of Houma for DWI, aggravated flight and other charges following a pursuit on Thursday.
At around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, a white car traveling at a high rate of speed on the shoulder of the U.S. 90 exit onto LA 182 passed several cars including an unmarked deputy’s car. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver of the vehicle ignored deputies and continued westbound on LA 182, driving erratically and reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour. The driver turned onto LA 3087, and later turned onto LA 316, crossing into Terrebonne Parish where Louisiana State Police joined the pursuit. Troopers deployed spike strips at LA 316 and Company Canal Road, but the driver avoided them and continued southbound. At the intersection of LA 316 and LA 24, the driver ignored a red light, and the car struck an SUV. There were no injuries in the crash. The car did not stop at the crash, and it continued southbound onto LA 24 and then on to LA 55. The driver eventually stopped the car in the 800 block of LA 55 and jumped into Bayou Terrebonne in an attempt to flee from deputies, but she was apprehended shortly thereafter.
The driver was identified as Autumn Picou, and she was exhibiting signs that she was possibly under the under the influence of illegal narcotics. At one point after being handcuffed, she attempted to flee the scene on foot, but she was quickly apprehended. She was found to have Suboxone, oxycodone, and legend drug pills in her possession.
Picou was initially transported to the Terrebonne Criminal Justice Facility and booked as a fugitive. A blood sample was drawn to test for the presence of illegal narcotics, and the results are pending. She was later transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center and booked with Aggravated Flight from an Officer, DWI, Reckless Operation, Simple Escape, and Possession of Suboxone, Oxycodone, and a Legend Drug. Her bond is set at $59,000.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Eddie Clark III (age 20) of Thibodaux on Wednesday, June 14. Just before 8 pm on Wednesday, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Cedar Street in Thibodaux. Deputies identified the driver as Eddie Clark III, and they detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Deputies discovered Clark to be in possession of nearly five grams of marijuana and two pills identified as oxycodone and amphetamine. Deputies also discovered over 14 grams of a white powdery substance which could not be identified. At that time, Clark was placed under arrest. While in handcuffs, Clark attempted to flee on foot, but he was quickly apprehended. Clark was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked with Possession of Marijuana, Amphetamine, Oxycodone, and Drug Paraphernalia, as well as Possession with Intent to Distribute a Counterfeit Controlled Dangerous Substance, Simple Escape, and illegal window tint. His bond has not yet been set. All narcotics and the white powdery substance were sent to the Louisiana State Crime Lab for further analysis.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a Thibodaux man already in jail for identity theft has been charged with additional counts. Brent Poiencot (age 41) faces five additional counts of identity theft following an investigation.
In October 2016, detectives began investigating multiple cases involving someone attempting to open credit card accounts using other people’s personal information. Through investigation, detectives developed Brent Poiencot as the suspect and obtained a search warrant for his residence on Renee Drive. During a search of the residence, detectives discovered evidence of identity theft. Detectives then obtained a warrant for Poiencot’s arrest for four counts of Identity Theft. Poiencot was then arrested by Morgan City Police during a traffic stop on January 31, 2017. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center the following day.
Meanwhile, detectives had begun investigating additional complaints of identity theft. Through investigation, detectives learned Poiencot allegedly opened a bank account in the name of a Lafourche Parish resident and deposited checks which he had stolen and altered. Following the investigation, detectives obtained warrants charging Poiencot with five additional counts of Identity Theft. He was booked on those charges on Tuesday, June 13. Detectives say investigations are continuing, and additional charges are possible.
Sheriff Webre is reminding residents to review your credit history often to watch for any unusual or unauthorized activity. Citizens can go to www.AnnualCreditReport.com to obtain one free credit report online each year. If any unusual or unauthorized activity is discovered, contact the creditor to investigate the nature of the activity, and write down any and all relevant information. When possible, freeze or close the accounts, and then contact the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office to report the fraudulent activity. You should also contact the three major credit reporting agencies (TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian) and request a “flag” on your account. This will trigger the agencies to notify you if anyone attempts to open a line of credit in your name.
Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will conduct a seat belt checkpoint during the daytime hours of Thursday, June 15 in Lafourche Parish. During the checkpoint, deputies will be checking motorists for seat belt and safety seat violations, as well as for proper inspection tags and insurance. These checkpoints are designed to help raise awareness for these types of violations and make the highways of the parish safer for all motorists.
UPDATE: 10:30 a.m. – Destiny Hill has been located, and she is safe.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre is asking for the public’s help in locating 15-year-old Destiny Hill (D.O.B. 6/14/2001) of Gheens. Hill has been missing since running away from home around 10:15 p.m. on Monday, June 12. She was last seen wearing a red shirt, black pants, and black and white flip flops. She is believed to still be in the Central Lafourche area. Hill is described as 5’5” tall and weighs approximately 215 pounds. She has black hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information on Hill’s whereabouts is asked to call the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 532-2808, or simply call 9-1-1.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced four people have been arrested in connection with an investigation into stolen golf carts in the South Lafourche area. Teddy Adams Jr. (age 29) and Kelly Ordoyne (age 21), both of Golden Meadow, have been arrested, as well as and Kennith Kramer (age 37) and Tarkus Pitre (age 43), both of Cut Off.
In April, detectives began investigating the theft of several golf carts in the South Lafourche area. In May, three of those golf carts were found on property where Tarkus Pitre resided. Through investigation, detectives learned Teddy Adams Jr. and Kennith Kramer had delivered one of the stolen carts to the residence, and they learned Adams and Kelly Ordoyne had delivered the other two carts. Detectives learned Pitre purchase each golf cart for approximately $50 each and that Pitre knew the carts were stolen when he purchased them. Detectives later obtained warrants for all four individuals for Illegal Possession of Stolen Things per each suspect’s involvements. Adams was identified as the suspect in the actual theft of one of the carts, and detectives obtained an additional warrant for Felony Theft.
In the midst of the investigation, deputies received a call of another stolen golf cart. At around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, deputies responded to a stolen golf cart being driven on LA Highway 24 in Bourg. Upon arrival, deputies found the suspect had abandoned the golf cart in an abandoned field along LA 24 and fled on foot. Deputies later observed a person fitting the description of the suspect walking along the highway and identified him as Adams. Through further investigation, Adams was identified as the suspect, and he was arrested for Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. He was later additionally booked on the aforementioned warrants for Felony Theft and two counts of Illegal Possession of Stolen Property. His bond is set at $21,000.
Kramer was already in jail having been arrested April 28, 2017, after he was found in possession of a handgun and various drug paraphernalia. At that time, he was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Domestic Abuse Battery, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is now additionally charged with Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. His bond is set at $30,200, but he is currently serving a 90-day sentence for a contempt of court charge.
Ordoyne was arrested on Monday, June 5 on two warrants for Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, and she was released the same day after posting $1,000 bond. Pitre was arrested on Friday, June 9 on warrants for three counts of Illegal Possession of Stolen Property. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center and subsequently released on Saturday after posting $7,000 bond.
Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will conduct a seat belt checkpoint and a DWI checkpoint on Friday, June 16 in Lafourche Parish. These checkpoints are designed to help raise awareness for these types of violations and make the highways of the parish safer for all motorists. The seat belt checkpoint will be conducted Friday evening, and deputies will focus on checking motorists for seat belt and safety seat violations. A DWI checkpoint will begin Friday evening and will continue into the early morning hours of Saturday, June 17. During the DWI checkpoint, deputies will be looking for drivers who are possibly impaired while checking for other traffic safety issues.
Sheriff Webre reminds citizens to designate a driver if you are going to drink. Motorists suspected of DWI who refuse to submit to a breathalyzer test will lose their driver’s license for one year (first offense). For a second offense, the penalty increases to two years. Anyone convicted of a DWI offense while their driver’s license is suspended because of another DWI offense will face automatic prison time. Lafourche Parish is also a “No Refusal” parish, meaning if a suspected drunk driver refuses a breathalyzer test, deputies will seek a search warrant to have that person’s blood tested.
4pm 6/9/2017 UPDATE: Russell Orgeron has been located and reunited with family members. He had been in a hospital since Tuesday.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a Silver Alert has been issued statewide for 66-year-old Russell Orgeron of Larose who has been missing since Monday, June 5, 2017. He was last seen in Larose on Monday. Orgeron is a white male, 5’8 tall, and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He has hazel eyes and gray hair, and he is likely to be driving a white Chevrolet S10 pickup truck with a Louisiana license plate: W431555. If anyone has seen Orgeron or has any knowledge of his whereabouts, please contact the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office immediately at (985) 532-2808 or simply dial 9-1-1.
