UPDATE: Inmates Charged in Investigation into Contraband at Correctional Complex

Sheriff Craig Webre announced investigators have charged three inmates in an investigation into contraband being brought to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex. Inmates Kelvin Davis, 23, David Bonds, 36, and Daquan Nash, 29, have been charged in the investigation. On Monday, a former correctional officer, Natacia Brown, 20, of Thibodaux, was arrested and terminated for her involvement.

As previously released, an investigation was launched last week after Correctional Complex administrators learned Brown had allegedly taken part in a transaction that was coordinated outside the facility, brought contraband into the complex, and provided it to an inmate. They also learned of a second incident in which she was involved in trying to bring other drugs into the facility. Brown was booked into the Correctional Complex in Thibodaux on charges including taking contraband to a penal institution, attempted taking contraband to a penal institution, and malfeasance in office. She was released on October 15 after posting bail in the amount of $150,000.

Investigators also discovered inmates Davis, Bonds, and Nash were involved in the incidents and were charged accordingly.

Davis was charged with taking contraband to a penal institution. He is currently serving a sentence for second degree murder. He is also being held on additional charges, including 11 counts of simple burglary of a motor vehicle and illegal possession of stolen things.

Bonds was being held on charges including attempted second degree murder and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was charged with principal to taking contraband to a penal institution. His bail is now set at $700,000, and he is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole as a parole violator.

Nash was in jail for possession with intent to distribute heroin and methamphetamine, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting an officer, aggravated flight from an officer, expired driver’s license, traffic violations, and contempt of court. He was charged with attempted taking of contraband to a penal institution. His bail is now set at $2.594 million. He is also being held as a fugitive of the parishes of Assumption and Terrebonne and as a parole violator.

The investigation is continuing, and additional arrests are expected.

Correctional Officer Arrested for Bringing Contraband into Correctional Complex

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the dismissal and arrest of a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office correctional officer on Monday. Natacia Brown, 20, of Thibodaux was terminated upon her arrest.

Last week, an investigation was launched after Correctional Complex administrators learned Brown had reportedly supplied synthetic marijuana to an inmate at the facility. Investigators learned Brown had allegedly taken part in a transaction that was coordinated outside the facility, brought the contraband into the complex, and provided it to the inmate. When investigators questioned Brown about the incident, she admitted to her involvement. They also learned of a second incident in which she was involved in trying to bring other drugs into the facility on another date.

Brown was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. She was charged with taking contraband to a penal institution, attempted taking contraband to a penal institution, and malfeasance in office. Bail is set at $150,000.

Brown’s employment with the sheriff’s office lasted just over two years and ended upon her arrest. She had been assigned as a correctional officer at the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Candlelight Vigil Slated for October 16, 2025

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office is promoting awareness of domestic violence throughout the month of October, which is known nationally as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Last week, Lafourche Parish President Mitch Orgeron issued a proclamation declaring the month of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Lafourche Parish.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Lafourche Parish District Attorney’s Office, The Haven, and The P.A.C.T. Place Supervised Visitation and Monitored Exchange Center are partnering once again to host the annual Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil. The event will take place on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Lafourche Central Market pavilion, located at 4484 Highway 1 in Raceland. The event is designed to remember the victims, honor and support the survivors of domestic violence, and recognize how our community can join together to create hope for change and commitment towards ending domestic violence. Several domestic violence survivors and family members of victims will share their stories of hope in an effort to inspire others to action.

This year’s theme is Voices Unheard; Stories Remembered. This acknowledges that victims of domestic violence suffer in silence. Their pain, fear, and struggles often go unspoken because they are afraid, silenced by their abuser, not believed, or overlooked by society. The theme also points to remembering the journeys, resilience, and – in some cases – the lives lost to domestic violence. It emphasizes the importance of telling and preserving survivors’ stories.

“Domestic violence impacts all aspects of our parish, including community health, crime rates, the ability to participate in the workforce, child development, and family dynamics,” said Sheriff Webre. “I am proud to live in a parish that is making it a priority to recognize, address and end domestic violence. Lafourche Parish is a better place when each citizen feels safe, secure, and free from the threat of violence.”

For more information about the vigil, please contact The P.A.C.T. Place at (985) 532-4390 or email Pamela Guedry at pamela-guedry@lpso.net

If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, call the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Police Social Services at (985) 449-4477.
