Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported the body of a Galliano man was discovered in Bayou Lafourche on Sunday afternoon. Investigators have identified the man as 69-year-old Terry Angelle of Galliano.
At around 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, a concerned citizen reported the body floating in the bayou in the area of West 188th Street in Galliano. A local firefighter had arrived on scene and pulled the body to the shore. Deputies found Angelle’s arms and legs were bound with rope. Angelle’s bicycle was also found on a dock on the west side of the bayou approximately 200 yards from where his body was discovered. Detectives believe Angelle may have been in the bayou for several days.
The investigation into Angelle’s death is continuing. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced a Concealed Handgun Training Course will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the LPSO Shooting Range Facility located at 3451 Highway 182 in Raceland. The class will begin at 8:00 a.m. and last until approximately 5:00 p.m. with a break for lunch. The actual ending time will vary due to class size.
The course will include the following:
One hour of instruction on handgun nomenclature and safe handling procedures of a revolver and semi-automatic pistol.
One hour of instruction on ammunition knowledge and fundamentals of pistol shooting.
Three hours of instruction on the use of deadly force and conflict resolution. (Includes a review of R.S. 14:18 through 14:22 and which may include a review of any other laws relating to the use of deadly force)
One hour of instruction on handgun shooting positions.
One hour of instruction on child access prevention.
Two hours of actual live range fire and proper handgun cleaning procedures. Live range fire shall include 12 rounds each at 5 feet, 10 feet, and 15 feet for a total of 36 rounds.
Must perform at least one safe reload of the handgun at each distance.
Must score 100% hits within the silhouette portion of an NRA B-27 type silhouette target with 36 rounds.
The cost for the course is $110, and advance registration is suggested due to limited class size. This course is a pre-requisite for those applying for a Concealed Handgun Permit from the State of Louisiana. Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a Cut Off man for the molestation of a juvenile relative. Wesley Todd has been charged with Aggravated Incest in the case.
In late June, juvenile detectives opened an investigation into Todd after receiving allegations that he reportedly molested a child several years ago who is also a relative. Following the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for Todd’s arrest.
On Tuesday, July 17, detectives and patrol deputies traveled to Todd’s residence to attempt to take him into custody. As deputies’ approached, Todd ran from the residence into a nearby wooded area. Deputies pursued him and located him hiding behind a tree where he was taken into custody.
Todd was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux on the warrant for Aggravated Incest, and he was additionally charged with Resisting an Officer. His bond is set at $100,000. He was released Tuesday evening after posting $100,100 bond. He has been ordered to stay away from the victim.

To note whether your ticket is in the 17th Judicial District, simply check the top of the ticket near the word “Court.” The ticket is only eligible if it is paid before the payment due date and if there is no mandatory court appearance. For those tickets carrying a mandatory court appearance, those can be paid once the individual appears in court, and there is a final disposition from the court.
To pay a ticket online, simply click the “PAY FINES” button on the homepage of www.LPSO.net. You will be given further instructions and directed to an online search portal. You can search for your ticket or fine by entering your name. You can also search by using your driver’s license number, citation number, or your court docket number if applicable.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Charles Gale, 35, of Raceland following a traffic stop early Sunday morning.
At around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 15, deputies initiated a traffic stop on Dantin Street in Raceland. While speaking to the driver, deputies identified the passenger as Charles Gale, who had two active warrants. Gale opened the passenger door and attempted to flee on foot. As he began running, he pushed a deputy who was standing nearby. Deputies pursued Gale, and he was taken into custody moments later. After being handcuffed, Gale attempted to reach into his waistband, and he resisted deputies violently as they attempted to stop him from doing so. Deputies stood Gale up and discovered a loaded handgun on the ground which was believed to have fallen from Gale’s waistband during the struggle with deputies. The firearm was found to have been reported stolen in 2009 in Thibodaux.
Gale was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux on charges of Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Resisting an Officer with Force of Violence, Battery of a Police Officer, and two counts of Contempt of Court. His bond is set at $110,000. Per one of the contempt warrants, he has also been ordered to serve 87 days in jail or pay $5,000 in child support.
Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will conduct seat belt checkpoints in Lafourche Parish during the daytime hours of July 19, 2018, and July 25, 2018. During these checkpoints, deputies will be checking motorists for seat belt and safety seat violations, as well as for proper inspection tags and other potential violations. Checkpoints are designed to help raise awareness for these types of violations and make the highways of the parish safer for all motorists.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) course on August 28, 29, and 30, 2018, at The Learning Center at Lady of the Sea Hospital, located at 200 West 134th Place in Cut Off.
This self-defense course is designed exclusively for women and will take place over the course of all three days. The class will begin at 6 p.m. and end around 9 p.m. each day. Participants must attend all three days. Course instruction will be provided by certified R.A.D. instructors from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a suspect wanted in reference to the theft of golf cart tires in Raceland.
On July 5, 2018, deputies responded to a complaint along LA Highway 1 in Raceland. The resident, who also owns a custom golf cart company, reported a male suspect was captured on camera removing golf cart tires and walking toward the street. Ten tires were later recovered at the roadside.
Deputies seek to identify the suspect in reference to trespassing, property damage, and theft. Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced four people were arrested after a call of a suspicious person led narcotics agents to find drugs, counterfeit money, and firearms at a Thibodaux residence. Melissa Stelly, 29, of Houma and Joshua Hyatt, 28, of Livingston were arrested as well as Cory Besson, 26, and Brandon Sims, 25, both of Thibodaux.
At around 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, deputies and narcotics agents responded to a call of a suspicious person complaint in the area of Recreation Drive in Raceland. Upon arrival, the subject, identified as Brandon Sims, was found to be sleeping with a large knife near his feet. In speaking to Sims, agents found him to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and nearly $1,000 of counterfeit bills. Through further investigation, agents believed additional drugs and counterfeit bills could be present at Sims’ residence, and they obtained a search warrant.
Agents traveled to Sims’ residence on Manchester Manor Road in Thibodaux. There, they made contact with Cory Besson, Melissa Stelly, and Joshua Hyatt. During a search of the residence, agents seized additional counterfeit bills ($3,970 total), as well as several items used in the production of the bills. Agents also seized 5 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 32 clonazepam pills, all of which appeared to be prepared for distribution. They also discovered MDMA, amphetamines, a shotgun, a revolver, and various drug paraphernalia.
All four were arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. Each was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Monetary Instrument Abuse. The bonds on Sims and Besson were set at $76,000 each.
Stelly was additionally charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Clonazepam, Possession of MDMA and Amphetamine, and Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Her bond is set at $86,000.
Hyatt was additionally charged with Possession of MDMA, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. His bond is set at $136,000.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons wanted in reference to the unauthorized use of a credit card.
In November 2017, detectives opened an investigation after a woman reported having a lost or stolen credit card. Detectives learned the card was being used without authorization. Through investigation, detectives found charges had been made at locations in Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes.
Over the next few months, detectives collected surveillance footage from locations the card had been used. Detectives questioned a possible suspect in reference to the crime, but have been unable to properly identify anyone from surveillance videos.
Investigators are now seeking the public’s help two identify two women featured in one of the surveillance videos who are considered persons of interest in the investigation.
