Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Francis Lee Jr. (age 63) of Galliano for multiple counts of attempted murder and aggravated assault. Just before 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, deputies responded to a disturbance at Lee’s residence on LA Highway 3235 in Galliano. Upon arrival, deputies observed several individuals standing outside the residence. Deputies made contact with Lee and he was immediately detained. Detectives arrived and began an investigation into the incident. They discovered Lee had been yelling at several individuals inside the residence. At one point, Lee brandished a crowbar and threatened to strike three individuals. Lee then stated he was going to kill everyone at the residence. Two adults gathered five children into a bedroom to attempt to protect them from Lee who retrieved a .22-caliber rifle and fired three rounds. Deputies recovered the rifle and spent casings from inside the residence. Lee was arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked with seven counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder and three counts of Aggravated Assault. His bond is set at $170,000.

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Scotty Poindexter (age 27) and Ernest Boyd (age 29) on Thursday, January 26. At around 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, deputies of the Problem-Oriented Policing (“POP”) Squad were at the intersection of LA Highway 308 and LA Highway 182 when they observed Scotty Poindexter in the parking lot of a convenience store. The deputies knew Poindexter to have active warrants for his arrest, and they proceeded into the parking lot to make contact with him. Upon deputies’ arrival to the parking lot, Poindexter sat down in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. His passenger, later identified as Ernest Boyd, exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but he was quickly apprehended. Boyd had attempted to conceal a plastic bag later found to contain suspected methamphetamine, but deputies recovered the bag, as well as a suspected marijuana cigarette found on Boyd’s person. Boyd was also found to have two active warrants for his arrest. Deputies then placed Poindexter under arrest. He was found to be in possession of a small bag of marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia. Poindexter and Boyd were transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. Poindexter was booked on warrants for Distribution of Methamphetamine and Violation of Parole. He was additionally booked with Possession of Marijuana (3^rd Offense) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and his bond is set at $12,750. Boyd was booked with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana (2^nd Offense), and Resisting Arrest. He was also booked on outstanding warrants for two counts of Domestic Abuse Battery, and his bond is set at $7,750. Both Poindexter and Boyd are also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole.

Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a Thibodaux man. Brent Poiencot (age 40) is wanted for four counts of Identity Theft. The bond on his warrant is set at $100,000.

Beginning in October 2016, detectives began investigating multiple cases involving someone attempting to open credit card accounts using other people’s personal information. Through investigation, detectives developed Brent Poiencot as the suspect and obtained a search warrant for his residence on Renee Drive. During a search of the residence, detectives discovered evidence of identity theft. Detectives then obtained a warrant for Poiencot’s arrest for four counts of Identity Theft.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre and Golden Meadow Chief of Police Reggie Pitre announced the arrest of David Nelson Jr. (age 19) of Galliano for Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile. Earlier this month, the Golden Meadow Police Department was notified about Nelson possibly having sexual relations with a 16-year-old female. Juvenile detectives with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office were called in to investigate the case. Through investigation, they learned Nelson had consensual sex with the female on at least two occasions. Detectives made contact with Nelson on Monday, January 23, and during questioning, he admitted to having sex with the 16-year-old female. He was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. He was released Monday afternoon after posting $2,500 bond.

UPDATE: Glynn has turned himself in.

Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information on the whereabouts of a Thibodaux man wanted in connection with an incident which occurred early Sunday morning. Donnie James Glynn Jr. faces several charges, including Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, following the incident.

At around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, January 22, deputies responded to a bar on Palmisano Drive in Bayou Blue in reference to a male subject with a gun. Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspect, later identified as Glynn, had fled the scene in a sport-utility vehicle. Through investigation, deputies learned Glynn arrived outside the bar and immediately began causing a disturbance. When he was asked to leave the premises, Glynn allegedly pulled a handgun from his waistband and began threatening to kill everyone at the bar. Because Glynn was standing outside the doorway, another man was able to shut and lock the bar door and call the Sheriff’s Office.

Meanwhile, the suspect’s vehicle was stopped by Louisiana State Police near the intersection of LA Highway 182 and North Hollywood Road in Houma. When troopers stopped the vehicle, Glynn exited from the passenger seat and fled on foot. Troopers were unable to locate him at that time, but they did recover a loaded handgun from the vehicle that is believed to be the handgun used in the incident.

During a review of Glynn’s criminal history, deputies discovered he had prior convictions for Simple Burglary and Domestic Abuse Battery. Deputies then obtained warrants for his arrest.

Donnie Glynn Jr. is also known as “D.J.” and is wanted for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Domestic Abuse Battery. He also has an outstanding warrant for the City of Thibodaux due to a Violation of a Protective Order. Glynn is described as a white male, 6’0” tall, weighing around 195 pounds, with brown hair and several tattoos on his forearms, hands, neck, and face. His last known residence was on Lafourche Drive in Thibodaux.

Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved in vehicle burglaries which occurred on East 25^th Street in Larose.

The first incident occurred on December 31, 2016. A resident on East 25^th Street awoke to discover several items had been stolen from her vehicle overnight. Then on Wednesday, January 18, deputies responded to another residence on East 25^th Street in reference to another vehicle burglary and attempted burglary. Through investigation, deputies discovered surveillance video in both cases of what appears to be a thin male subject burglarizes the vehicles. In both instances, the male subject was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and pants. Investigators believe the same suspect may have committed both crimes.

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Rashun Reed (age 30) of Thibodaux for Second Degree Cruelty to a Juvenile on Monday, January 16.

At around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, deputies and juvenile detectives responded to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center in reference to a toddler who was unresponsive due to head trauma. Through investigation, detectives learned the mother had left the child in the care of Rashun Reed on Sunday night while she went into another room. Reed brought the child to her a few minutes later, and the child was not breathing. The child was taken to the emergency room in Thibodaux and later transported by ambulance to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans for additional treatment. The child remains in critical but stable condition.

Through investigation, detectives learned the child’s injuries were consistent with being shaken violently, and they questioned Reed about the incident. Reed told detectives he the child had started “fussing,” and so, he started bouncing the child. He also admitted to “squeezing” the child tightly while trying to quiet the child. Following the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for Reed’s arrest for Second Degree Cruelty to a Juvenile. He was arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux.

While at the Detention Center, as correctional officers were escorting Reed, they noticed him pick up an object from the ground, later determined to be a cigarette. When officers questioned Reed about the object, he attempted to consume it. Officers grabbed Reed’s arm to prevent him from doing so, and Reed pulled away from officers and began resisting violently. During the struggle, Reed struck one of the correctional officers in the face. He also caused damage to a door when he struck it with his foot. He was booked per the aforementioned warrant, and he was also booked with Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence, Battery of a Police Officer, and Simple Criminal Damage to Property. His bond is set at $126,000.

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Nicholas Chauvin and his brother, Christian Chauvin, both of Houma, on Friday. At around noon on Friday, January 13, agents with the Lafourche Parish Drug Task Force traveled to the residence of Nicholas Chauvin on Sandy Lane in Houma in reference to having two active warrants for Distribution of Methamphetamine. Upon arrival, agents made contact with Chauvin outside the residence and he was taken into custody without incident. They also made contact with his brother, Christian Chauvin. After obtaining a search warrant for the residence, the Lafourche Parish Combined Meth Lab Response Team entered the residence and discovered tools and items commonly associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine. At that time, Christian Chauvin was also arrested. Both were transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux and booked with Creation or Operation of a Clandestine Laboratory for the Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Christian Chauvin’s bond is set at $50,000. Nicholas Chauvin was also booked on the aforementioned warrants for Distribution of Methamphetamine, and his bond is set at $85,000.

Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved in a shooting in the Lockport area over the weekend.

At around 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, deputies received a report of a shooting on East Lafourche Street in Lockport. Through investigation, they learned a male subject in his 20s had been shot in the left hip, and he had been airlifted to University Medical Center in New Orleans for treatment. His injuries were not life-threatening.
